About the Boyds
Carol and Lee Boyd thought they had found a piece of paradise when they bought their dream home in Loreto with plans of retirement. They hadn't been in town for more than two months, when they discovered another piece of property on the Malecon and thought, "What a great place for a restaurant."
While they had never run nor built a restaurant, they had developed extensive commerical and residential properties in San Diego. They bought the waterfront property, new kitchen equipment and began demolition. The plans were laid for their new business venture.
What they didn't know about running a restaurant, they did know about food. As Carol says, "We'd eaten out all over the world, and know what makes a place great. We've tried to recreate that here in Loreto at Mediterraneo." Both Carol and Lee are proud of what they've accomplished.
They've assembled a fabulous staff of happy, hard working people who are treated with respect and provided with extensive training. It shows in the service provided to their customers. The staff are courteous, attentive and eager to please.
"The Backyard," Lee's brainchild, is the newest downstairs addition to the Mediterraneo complex. It's one of Lee's passions, and he can be found there most nights, watching over the smoker and sipping a cold beer. Mesquite grilled BBQ is served nightly in the friendly patio atmosphere, along with movies, music videos and sporting events.
